Toledo

As Spain's first capital, Toledo is saturated with history. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986, this is the city that inspired Renaissance painter El Greco in the 16th century. Since then it has remained largely unchanged in its blend of Arabic, Jewish, Christian and Visigothic elements. Toledo is famous for its splendid Cathedral, which houses several of El Greco’s paintings along with many other art treasures.

Ronda

One of the oldest cities in Spain, Ronda sits perched on the edge of a breathtaking ravine known as El Tajo. Widely known as the town's most impressive feature, for centuries this natural barrier played an integral part of the city's fortified defenses. Aside from its natural beauty and location, Ronda is home to an 11th-century Arab bath and the 18th-century Plaza de Toros, where modern bullfighting was born.

Sights include Europe’s largest Gothic cathedral, which houses the remains of Cristopher Columbus, and the Alcázar, a beautiful 14th-century Mudéjar palace.

Granada

Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains and was the last Muslim kingdom to be recaptured by Spain’s Catholic Monarchs in 1492. Students will tour the world-famous Alhambra and its vast complex of palaces, gardens and fortresses, as well as the Arab quarter known as the Albayzin. Other sights include Granada’s Cathedral, which houses the final resting place of the Catholic Monarchs.
