Academics
Program Overview
In Heredia, LPI offers an intensive Spanish Language and Culture program at the Universidad Latina. Students attend classes in Spanish five hours daily, Monday through Thursday. On the first day of class, students are administered a language level placement test by the university. Classes are taught by university professors and attended by LPI students only; schedules are confirmed upon language level placement. Tutoring services are available at the LPI office and must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. If necessary, class level changes may be made during the first few days of the academic program. Students must first inform the professor(s) and LPI resident director and staff of the desired change. Course descriptions are available below.
Eligibility
Students must have completed at least 1 year of high school Spanish or the equivalent and must demonstrate an acceptable overall academic record. Students must be at least 15 years of age by the program departure date. Students not meeting the eligibility requirements are encouraged to contact LPI to explore other options.
