London, England

About The City

As the capital city of England, London elegantly portrays itself as both a center for education and one of the most historically significant cities in the western world. Upon arrival, visitors immediately recognize some of the world's most famous architectural and cultural gems: Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, and many more. That being said, London is not without natural beauty: the Thames River, bisecting the city north from south, has been a part of London's topography since the area was first settled by the Romans in 34 AD. Since its beginnings as a modest Roman outpost to its years as the capitol of the British Empire, London today is a city that has impacted much of the modern world. The city beckons students seeking to discover the metropolitan hub of the United Kingdom: a capital city rich with culture, literary significance, and the roots of western civilization.
